What is Chiropractic
A chiropractors mission is to optimise the communication between the brain and the rest of the body – thereby allowing the body to function in an optimal fashion.
There is a large body of evidence that shows Chiropractic is effective at treating back pain, shoulder pain, the pain associated with knee and hip arthritis and also many types of headache.
The philosophy of the Chiropractic team at Riviera Wellbeing is ‘diagnosis is key!’
We will take great care to identify the specific cause of your problem. This ensures that you get the best and most timely resolution of not only your symptoms but their cause too.
It is our aim to treat the underlying issue that is the cause of your pain or discomfort – not just help with the relief of your symptoms.
All of the Chiropractors at our Paignton Chiropractic Clinic have completed 5 years of full-time Masters Degree level training, as well as considerable amounts of post-graduate training too. All of our Chiropractors are experienced professionals, who work to the highest clinical standards. Our clinic has been awarded the Patient Partnership Quality Mark (PPQM) by the Royal College of Chiropractors. PPQM is awarded in recognition of excellent care and service provision for patients.
Unlike many of the other complementary healthcare professions Chiropractic is governed by statute. This means that Chiropractors have to work within strict guidelines set by the UK government – much like the doctors and surgeons who work within the NHS.
At Riviera Wellbeing, we do not just provide Chiropractic care – we have a number of therapies upon which we can call, should we, or you require. If Chiropractic is not deemed the most effective method of treatment we may refer you to one of our other therapists. We find that this multi-discipline environment allows us to offer the best service and provides us with a depth of knowledge and experience not found anywhere else locally.
The philosophy behind Chiropractic
Put simply, our bodies are essentially controlled by our brains. The communication between our brain and the rest of the body is primarily conducted through the nervous system. All of the nerves which carry the signals from the body to the brain are routed through the spinal cord – this is why much of a Chiropractors work is concerned with the neck and back. This is why many people mistakenly believe that Chiropractors only treat neck and back pain.
Chiropractic is a safe, ‘hands on’ approach to healthcare. Using specific spinal adjustments, tailored to the individual, in addition to massage, stretching, advice, exercises and lifestyle management, your Chiropractor will gradually mobilise joints, restore function and help rehabilitate your problem area.
Chiropractic is non-invasive, and doesn’t require the use of drugs – it treats the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms.
Chiropractic is effective and there is a rapidly growing body of evidence to support the fact that it is one of the most effective methods for the treatment of non-specific acute back pain as well as a plethora of other conditions.
Chiropractic is suitable for all the family. We treat people of all ages – from the new-born baby to the oldest members of society.
