As a mother and Chiropractor, I feel passionately that pregnancy should not be seen or experienced as an illness. As a mum-to-be, we can, and should remain fit and active throughout our pregnancies… I am a firm believer that if the mothers’ body is comfortable and in balance, the chances of a natural delivery are far greater.

Wellness During Pregnancy
The 40 weeks of pregnancy are an ever-changing time for the mother-to-be, whether this be the first or fifteenth pregnancy.
The body is constantly morphing and adapting itself in readiness for the coming birth process. These changes can be physical and psychological, and can have profound effects on many of us, especially those experiencing pregnancy for the first time.
Some of these changes can be accompanied by pain and discomfort. Sometimes referred to as Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) or Pubic Symphisis Dysfunction (PSD), these are just two of the very common painful conditions that we can help to manage during pregnancy.
Pregnancy is not an illness!
As a mother and Chiropractor, I feel passionately that pregnancy should not be seen or experienced as an illness. As a mum-to-be, we can, and should remain fit and active throughout our pregnancies, and chiropractic care can help
Through periods of rapid change and growth, this can feel like an uphill struggle. I am a firm believer that if the mothers’ body is comfortable and in balance, the chances of a natural delivery are far greater. Allowing for the best position of the fetus in-utero, and helping a mother to understand how her body will respond to the natural cues given during labour, empowers the mother towards a birth of her choosing.
Chiropractic care during pregnancy – how we can help
Complimentary health care is a natural and effective way of helping to tackle some of the more uncomfortable features of pregnancy as well as helping the body function in an optimal way. Whilst nurturing a newly forming baby, medicines and drugs should be avoided wherever possible.
Chiropractic is extremely effective at managing the back and pelvic pain often associated with pregnancy. Using very gentle and specific ‘hands-on’ techniques we can help the mothers’ body adapt to the changes taking place. From muscular trigger-point techniques, to gentle manipulation of restricted joints – the methods used are always tailored to the individual.
Reflexology is also widely recommended throughout pregnancy especially for the management of fluid retention and lymphatic drainage. It also helps relieve stress and anxiety in a totally drug-free and blissfully relaxing way.
If it is just sheer indulgence you are looking for then our facial or full body massages can be tailored to the pregnant client.
Our multi-disciplinary team love to collaborate, and combine therapies in order to bring about the best experience and outcome for you.
Care for the newborn
All the mummies that we treat during their pregnancies are offered a free ‘post-birth check’ for their newborn. This allows us to identify any, albeit minor, stresses on the babies’ spine and nervous system at a very early stage, before they lead into symptoms including poor latch, unsettled behaviour, altered gut function etc.
